Life on Long Island
what we do when not in the lab...
Stony Brook is located on the north shore of Long Island. Activities here are numerous including intramural sports, entertainment (e.g., the Staller Center), music, the Checkmate (a local pub), among many others. We are also located on an island (obviously) making water sports common--surfing, fishing, sailing, swimming, sea kayaking and scuba diving are readily available (my surfing buddies can’t wait for the hurricanes to hit). Of course New York City is an incredible resource...sports, museums, food, entertainment, etc...anything you want is available...
